Q: Do you provide non emergency transports from one hospital to another?
A: We are a 911 emergency ambulance service, which responds to medical emergencies. Generally, we do not provide this service, unless an extreme situation exists. Please contact the Office of the Chief to gain more information.
Q: If I have an emergency should I call 911 or 742-3300?
A: Either number will ensure that you will receive an emergency response to your house. When you call 742-3300, you are actually calling the Nassau County Fire Services emergency operators. When you dial 9-1-1 you are calling the Nassau County Police emergency operators
Q: Should I only call the volunteers for non serious medical calls, and 911 for the emergencies?
A: No. MVAC is setup to handle all medical emergencies as well as major incidents including school bus accidents, response to haz-mat incidents, and major traumas. We receive just as much training as paid departments, if not more from time to time. In fact many of our EMT's / AEMT's work with paid ambulance companies. We respond in the 911 system.
