Chief's Board

    The Chief along with the assistants, Captain and Lieutenant provide for the operational leadership of the organization.

Chief of operations:

Ed Rummel

      Edward Rummel has been a member of the Mineola Volunteer Ambulance Corps Inc. for the past 20 years. Ed started with the organization as a New York State Certified Emergency Technician. He became an Advanced Medical Technician in 1991. Over the years , Ed has consistently been one of MVAC's top responders. Ed served as Vice President in 1992, 3rd Assistant Chief in 1993, 2nd Assistant Chief in 1994, 1st assistant Chief in 1995 and Chief of the department from 1996 to 1998. since then he has held the rank of Chief 9 times. In addition to serving as a New York City Police Officer since 1991. He became a New York City Police sergeant in 2001. Ed has also served as a member of the Albertson Fire Department as a volunteer fireman since 1988. Ed displays the hard work and dedication that makes our Volunteer Ambulance Corp unique.         

1st Assistant chief:

 

Neil Velasco

     Neil Velasco has been a member of Mineola volunteer ambulance corps inc. for 8 years where he has been certified as a New York State Emergency Medical Technician. Neil has held the position of Secretary in 2003, Captain in 2004, 3rd assistant Chief in 2005,2nd assistant chief in 2006 and Chief of Operations in 2007. In 2008 Neil was MVAC's Safety Officer and is currently 1st Assistant Chief for 2009. Neil is not only recognized for his hard work and dedication at MVAC, but serves as a delegate for various firematic organizations throughout Nassau County. Neil has also been a volunteer firefighter with Alberston Fire Company since 1999 and is currently the Fire Company's President.

2nd Assistant chief:

 Mark Hoag 

      Mark Hoag has been a member of the Mineola Volunteer Ambulance Corps Inc. for the past 5 years. Mark started with the organization as a New York State EMT-B. He served as Sergeant at Arms in 2005, Captain in 2006, 2nd Assistant Chief in 2007, 1st Assistant Chief in 2008, Safety Officer in 2009, and currently holds the rank of 2nd Assistant Chief. Mark is also a volunteer fireman with the Williston Park Fire Department. Mark has over 10 years in the EMS field.  

Captain:

 

Joel Orr

   Joel Orr has been with the organization since October of 2004. He started as an EMT-B, in 2006 became an EMT-Critical Care. Joel has  served as Lieutenant in 2006 & 2007 and is currently Captain.  Joel is also a career EMT with the Fire Department of New York for the past 2 years. Joel plays an integral part in maintaining MVAC’s fleet as Chairman of the Vehicle Maintenance and Driver Training Committees.

Lieutenant: 

Kevin Hartman              

    Kevin started as a member of MVAC as a member in training in December of 2006. Graduating from the VEEB academy in July of 2007. Kevin became a full time driver in October of 2007 and shortly after the start of 2008 was appointed Sergeant at Arms and held this position for 2 years. Kevin also holds the position of chairman of MVAC's Information Technologies committee.

Safety Officer:

Lisa Dries

   Lisa began her medical career in 1992 when she joined MVAC.  She became an Advanced Life Support provider EMT-CC in 1994.  Lisa works as a Registered Nurse supervisor for Bayada Nurses where she also holds the positions of Safety Officer and Pandemic Influenza Coordinator.  Lisa is also a Certified Lab Instructor and BLS CPR instructor for the Nassau County EMS Academy.  She has held the positions of secretary and lieutenant for MVAC and has been involved in Quality Improvement, Service and Recording and Training.  Awards include being a top responder,  ALS Provider of the Year 2005 and received Honorable Mention for Nassau County Regional EMS ALS provider of the Year award .
